Okay, who here is into alternative/underground comics? Since we're all quite strange, I figured more than one of us could be. It's basically all the manga I read... I love these because for one thing, they're SHORT [as in, not a bajillion volumes] and also they're very unique. Where to find them? Internet, most definately [see sites below]. Even if you do have a local comic store that sells them, they'll charge an arm and a leg for them, most likely. Also, note that alot of these deal with 'dark' subject matter, so if that's not your thing, then you might not be interested. And, these range from Japanese to American artists, you will definately see all sorts of varied art styles and storylines!

Here's my little collection [includes alt. graphic novels as well as alt. light novels-- short books with lots of pictures]:

Secret Comics Japan
Hino Horror: The Red Snake
Hino Horror: The Collection Vol. 1
Hino Horror: The Collection Vol. 2
Nightmares & Fairytales Vol. 1: Once Upon A Time
Nightmares & Fairytales Vol. 2: Beautiful Beasts
The Cat With A Really Big Head
The 13th of Never
[Aside from these, I have the mangas Bizenghast Vol's 1 and 2, and The Nightmare Before Christmas manga, they're 'different' but not exactly 'underground'. Still worth a look, though^^]

And my wishlist [warning-- LONG!]

Hino Horror: The Black Cat
Hino Horror: Skin and Bone
Hino Horror: Gallery of Horrors
Panorama of Hell [also by Hino, but not part of the 'Hino Horror' series]
Hell Baby [same as above]
Flesh Colored Horror [not Hino]
Mr. Arashi's Amazing Freak Show
Junko Mizuno's Cinderella
Junko Mizuno's Hansel & Gretel
Pure Trance [Junko Mizuno]
Lily: When I Was Dead
Nightmares & Fairytales Vol. 3: Rue Royale
Robot Vol. 1
Robot Vol. 2
Robot Vol. 3
Punch & Judy: Twice Told Tales
The Mammoth Book of Best New Manga
Egg Story
Zeet
Chi
The Melancholy Death of Oyster Boy
Chimney 25 [FSc -- will explain later]
Bear: Immortal
Bear: Demons
Emily The Strange: Lost, Dark, and Bored
FSc: Héofigendlic Loðrung

Also, ones that are 'mainstream' but you still may be interested in:

12 Days
The Demon Ororon

Today I picked up 5 alt. comics by FSc [Foo Swee Chin - http://fscwasteland.com]. She also did the awesome NM & FT series which I'm drooling over the third book [comes out in April]. The ones I picked up are:

FSc Vol. 1: Consicous
FSc Vol. 2: A Lost Stock of Children
FSc Vol. 3: Mince
FSc Vol. 4: Per Skin Par Soul
FSc Vol. 5: Thwart Thus

What else... oh yeah! Jhonen Vasquez [if you don't know who he is, he's the guy who created Invader Zim]^^

[Also, I have the CBR's and CBZ's of all of his stuff... if you want any, IM me. I'm most likely gonna buy some of his stuff just because I like having a hard copy^^]

Johnny The Homicidal Maniac: Director's Cut [Vol's 1-7 in one big book]
Squee's Wonderful Big Giant Book of Unspeakable Horrors [Vol's 1-4 in one big book]
Fillerbunny Vol's 1-3
I Feel Sick Vol's 1-2
The Bad Art Collection
Everything Can Be Beaten

So where can you find this stuff?

Ebay or Amazon. If you can't find it there, look up the publisher, do a little research. For example, here's 2 big publishers [Pick up the FSc stuff from Neko Press while you can, it's the only site that has those 5 comics!]:

http://www.nekopresscomics.com/
http://www.slavelabor.com/

If you know anymore good reads, make sure to post!^^

"Sexy Voice and Robo" is really nice.

"The Drifting Classroom" is a good old school (ha, literally!) horror/sci-fi/demented series,,,

Horror-wise Hideshi Hino stuff is all good, especially "Panorama of Hell" and "Hell Baby."

I have Squee.

All of which makes me anxious, at times unbearably so.

ah I really like comics as well, but I'm mostly into manga like Berserk, Death Note, and Hellsing. I also read the hino horror and JTHM titles which I found at a small anime store I ventured out to. I'd love to find more obscure gems of comic goodness but it is a really expensive hobby.
