One of my favorite animes for many reasons.
Its short.
Its very werid.
Incredible visual storytelling.
Visually stunning.
Many "ooooh, i get it now" moments.
Its many messages and commentaries on society and human existance.

I'm half and half when it comes to the anime after I got my hands on the manga. Although the anime is a bit more organized when it comes to it's story telling, it dosen't pack as much punch as the art in the manga:

Somehow I get all warm and fuzzy when I see a art style that looks sloppy and yet neat at the same time.

Its a very good anime. It was one of my first and favorite animes. The story is amazing and the visuals are stunning. 2 tumbs up.

FLCL is really great. Watched some again the other day after a long time, still as good as ever. When my friends and I first got hold of it (VHS fansub, then HK bootleg DVD then finally official release) we'd watch it again and again, especially the gun episode, used to get up in the morning and watch it almost every day for a while for super-inspiration.

It's friggen amazing, It's right up there with Bebop and Samurai Champloo as my Favorite.

jesus this show is great, i like the visuals and i can tell that theres some kind of symbolism and hidden theme about growing up but whenever i try and figure out what it is i get distracted by all the robots and stuff flying around on the screen

I'm rather picky too.
I watch animes that are subtle with a message and great application of universal art concepts.
Though FLCL is quite obnoxious at times, its rather subtle about its message and ideas.
