Hey all...I haven't seen every one of Mdot's YouTube vids, so it may have already been discussed.  But I'm wondering: where/when/how can I purchase a DVD?

I haven't heard the info direct from the man himself buuuut....

It may be a while before M dot releases the DVD.  It's possible for him to make a DVD right now but it would just be a bare-bones DVD without any special features.  On YouTube, fans voted if they wanted to wait a while to see the movie to get special features and it looks like you guys voted to wait for special features.

That and actually distributing a DVD is hard work. He doesn't have a marketing company to distribute his film for him so he's going to have to do most the work for himself or get a friend to help him sell the DVDs.  He's got to figure out a good price, get an idea how much it'll cost to ship it, figure out if he wants to include goodies with the DVD, ect.

From what I know M dot is busy trying to get everything set up so he can sell the DVD.  Right now he's just got to find a method he likes.

I'll release some semi-inside info since I'm one of the people that's been giving him some ideas on how to sell the DVDs.  Two options I know of is either he will send you the DVDs direct from him through E-mails/this forum (DON'T E-MAIL HIM WITH DVD ORDERS UNTIL HE OR HIS WEBSITE SAYS SO, it'll make things easier that way).  There is also a chance he may be using E-Bay to simplify things for him (you won't bid--it would all be buy it now).

I hope that answers your question Heyoka.  Pay attention to YouTube.  Chances are that will be the first place he'll announce information about the DVDS.

I recently read an article in a blog about independent filmmaking that you can use a combination of Amazon.com and Netflix as a distribution channel.

If they don´t eat up all your margin that would be an interesting choice. And you can use it in addition to the two other options you mentioned.

When I remember correctly they can already ship WMV-HD DVDs, but are still working on HD-DVD and BluRay.

Man, I'm definitely looking forward to the DVD release, mostly because then I'll get to see the movie for the first time
