Alright kiddos, so the WATS DVD's should be in many of your grubby  pocky smeared hands, and no doubt, there probably were many head explosions over the weekend. As the self appointed mega unofficial semi-quazi-pseudo-sorta-notreally wanna-b moderator on this forum, I would like to designate this thread to taking strictly about your first (or second, or third, or forth..) impression of We Are The Strange.

I am interested in everyone's opinion of the movie. Shoot!

The ending with Blue was awesome, the few interactions between and peeks into the psyches and histories of Blue and Emmm were awesome (why was Emmm's dream sequence deleted??), and the visuals and soundtracks were, of course, awesome.

Everything else seemed to drag on forever and overall accomplish really-not-much except try to put me to sleep. You know something's wrong when you feel like dozing off in the midst of some the most incredible visuals of your entire lifelong cinematic experience because THEY WON'T GO AWAY.

The story was difficult to keep up with - not in that it was symbolically tucked away (that I could appreciate), but in that everything was sort of tossed together to be as SUPER MEGA AWESOME AND EXHILARATING AS POSSIBLE so you can't even hear or understand what the characters are saying/doing at points other than running or fighting.

In fact, way too much of the movie was dedicated to running. The collages of Blue fleeing were pretty but soon became monotonous.

I mean, jeez, don't get me wrong... parts of it were just incredible (Stop-motion animation FOR THE WIN.) but it was just thrown together all wrong. Area camera pans should have been cut WAAAAAYYY down, and replaced with more interaction, symbolism  and plot points.

Also, Rain was way harder to make out at points in the monster battles than he should have been.

Ummm... apparently the only one here who dared note anything was amiss. I feel more alienated than the "whale with a machine gun" guy. Don't flame me XD

Or maybe you are just the first person so far to express dislike for certain parts of the movie.

It's cool we all have our opinions. For instance, I disagree with pretty much everything you said, but we can agree to disagree no?

Agent M has yet to see the movie.

I JUST GOT MY COPY TODAY! And watched it twice, once normal, once with commentary. I LOVED it. Especially Blue. For some reason, I thought I was gonna hate her, but BOY was I wrong.

"You talk too much." Oh, you hard ass Blue, you.

That. Was. Amazing. I agree with Gremrat about the too-long sequences, but even the best movies have flaws.

What does it say about my sanity that I only said "WTF??" twice during the film? :P

Visually, this movie is pure genius and very inspiring. The audio was awesome too. The story didn't make a lot of sense, but that's ok if you were trying to go for the whole abstract thing. Some shots dragged on longer than they needed too though. I'm talking about the whole focusing on the characters while they are doing nothing important, like Blue staring. A few seconds is enough time for the audience to convey what's going on.

Other than that MR. M, you're cutting edge! Ginormus respect to you for putting most the film together by yourself too, that's a lot of work! I look forward to seeing your next piece of work! KEEP IT UP!

Finally saw it.

I think this is pretty much my favourite film ever now. I've followed it's progress for a couple years now and I wasn't dissapointed, I think when Emm formed the silhouette of Cutman is about when I realised this will become my favourite film ever. I watched it again right afterwards with commentary.

Also, can we get a recut with the talking bird?
Right I'm going to watch the uncut version.

I saw the movie on that Joox site originally with my girlfriend and my little brother. Although there were certain parts that I had a little trouble with following, I have to say that I did enjoy the movie.

I also put in an order for my DVD from Barnes & Noble yesterday night. It'll be the little spark of MEGA HELLA AWESOMENESS I get in-between World War Z, Day By Day Armageddon, and Plague of the Dead.

i got the we are the strange movie on november 15th for my birthday picture this there are ten people in my living room and on 2 people undestood the movie those two people were me and my girlfriend... we are the strange is truly one of the greatest movies ive seen in a long time im glad its different from all the hollywood movies i cant wait to see the new movies he makes
