Yeah I dunno if someone posted something similar allready, sorry if they did. But I was thinking of what could be done about the release. If you have any furthur ideas [I recommend you watch M Dot's Youtube video about the 'Secret DVD Info' before posting your ideas. Don't come up with something he's probably not willing to do like 'an alternate version of WATS' or 'omg 10 disc boxset of every single creative work M Dot's done since he was 3 years old']. Here are my ideas. Keep it simple, people!

The release:

  • Simplicity.
- First of all, we all want something that: A) Gets to the point and B) Is affordable. Not all of us are willing to shell out upwards of $50 for a goodie pack when some of us [not including me, I want /some/ extras] want to just see the movie. This is why I suggest it to be released in two discs; a movie disc and an extras disc [bundled together]. The soundtrack should also be a seperate release, because hey, some people [not saying me, I'd buy it] might not want the soundtrack for whatever reason. This should result in less work on M Dot and less cost for us.

The movie:

  • The WHOLE movie.

- The full-length movie, totally uncut. That's all I have to say.

The extras:

  • A picture is worth a thousand words.
- Rather than go and re-add all the 'Making Of' Youtube videos into the extras DVD, why not include an extensive gallery of behind the scenes pictures on the Extras disc? I'm sure we've all seen the 'Making Of' stuff before, and if we haven't, I'm more than positive that we have internet access and can go see it anytime we want.

  • Speaking of Youtube...
- I watched the 'Secret DVD Info' video twice and on the second time, took down notes of what M Dot said he was thinking of including as extras. He mentioned Youtube videos that haven't yet been posted on Youtube. These would make good extras.

  • Bloopers [if any].
- Okay, he didn't mention anything about this, but if there ARE bloopers at all, they would make an excellent extra feature.

  • Older animations.
- This is another thing he mentioned, I am just curious as to this '9 part Blue series' and the ones that feature eMMM and other characters. If he decides not to add it to the extras DVD, I'd at least like to see them posted on Youtube.

  • No DIY... instead, a nice tutorial.
It's been said before, and I'll say it again... if M Dot releases the DIY DVDs, he'll probably wish he hadn't. You don't want poor M Dot flooded with tons of poorly done WATS AMVs! Instead, he should add in a tutorial on ripping the DVD and editing the video clips in a decent manner, and maybe a tutorial on drawing the characters or doing your own animation or something.

That is all, like I said, feel free to add in your own ideas. *runs off* >___>

Yeah the DIY idea was new to me, and I'm not sure how many people would buy into it. I wonder why he only has access to DVD 9.....maybe he just has DVDRs that are DVD5?

I think something that we could do to affect the DVD would be awesome, similar to how he put us in as extras in the end of the movie. Perhaps he could load some of our fan art or some of our Youtube video replies, stuff like that.

As for the "making of" material, I would watch it again if it were better quality on the DVD (better than Youtube). I'm not sure if the quality was lowered because of YT or because of his webcam, so....that may or may not happen.

i say go with Full Movie Disc 1
All Film School Movies
All tutorials you have to offer,
and make the other stuff optional, like make a checklist for which DVD's you want...:-P oooohhh and SOUNDTRACK!! me wants that...yeah
yeah, i wouldnt reccomend the DIY vids...thatd be a tad like shelling out all your work for anyone to use and reuse and blah, not gooood. and i agree wit first post, dont do all the youtube vids, just the important ones, like trailers and filmschool and eventualy(hopefully) tutorials...yeah i repeated myself already didnt i...niiight

I agree with this; a 2-disc set, with the first disc being the film (and hopefully director's commentary ) and the second disc being the "extras". As far as the soundtrack CD, maybe sell it seperately and also as a "WATS bundle" with the DVD and CD.

Older animations would be awesome. What I wouldn't want to see is all the video blogs that are already on youtube.

I think that if you put the video blogs on, you might just chop them up a bit, because while watching them the first time was entertaining and I was eager to learn new things about the movie, I think watching all of that again would be a bit of a bore.

Instead maybe you could cut them down a little bit, edit it all together and take more a of a highlights of the making of type stuff, making it around an hour and a half to and hour long.
